Well wishes: Microsoft machine turns holidays dreams into reality

AUSTIN — As Giving Tuesday took place across the country, Microsoft Stores were rolling out a giving technology as well.

Called "Wish Machines," the computer-based tech is allowing customers across the country to stop and think of others.

"We want our local communities to come down to the Wish Machine and think big," said Stephen Dean, the manager of the Microsoft Store at the Domain.

Dean said the machine is meant to give customers a chance to give back to others and embrace the holiday spirit.

"I think what we do in our community and how we kind of dig deeper is to think of how someone else can benefit," he said. "How could they benefit from something that they normally wouldn't be able to get."

The wishes are recorded on the machine and sent to Microsoft, where more than 150 will eventually be picked and granted.

"I think a lot of people get into retail thinking you're just going to sit back and get pummeled during the holiday season," Dean said, "We're going to stand up and say, 'Come in!' Our team is super excited about getting out there and changing someone's life for the better."

The Microsoft Store in the Saint Louis Galleria is participating in the event. All Microsoft Stores across the country will be offering the Wish Machine until Dec. 31. For more info, you can check their site by clicking here.
