ST. LOUIS - On Thursday, 5 On Your Side welcomed a new multi-skilled journalist. Brandon Merano comes to St. Louis from WSIL-TV in Carterville, Illinois, where he’s worked as a multi-media journalist for the last five years. He will begin reporting for Today in St. Louis the week of Feb. 26.
Merano is a native of central Illinois and has a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. In addition to his work in television, he’s also served as an in-flight refueler with the Illinois Air National Guard since 2009.
“I’m excited to add Brandon to our team of talented journalists waking up with viewers on Today in St. Louis,” said News Director Tiffani Lupenski. “Brandon is a thoughtful storyteller who really knows how to make connections with people. His experience with the Illinois Air National Guard will also give 5 On Your Side greater insight into how to best meet the needs of our military community with our news coverage.”
As Merano joins Today in St. Louis, Ryan Dean will move to 5 On Your Side’s Storytelling Team, which focuses on telling in-depth stories about the people who make St. Louis special. Dean will begin his new role when Rene Knott returns home from covering the Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.
