Three shot outside Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheater

Three people were wounded in a shooting in the parking lot of the Red Rocks Amphitheater Thursday night near Denver.

DENVER - Three people were wounded in a shooting in the parking lot of the Red Rocks Amphitheater Thursday night near Denver.

The shooter targeted the occupants of a white SUV that fled the scene after the incident. The three victims were transported to the hospital, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Their condition is not known.

Officers are searching for the shooter and only have a vague description of the person.

"We do not believe this is a random shooting into a crowd," Jefferson County Sheriff spokesman Mark Techmeyer said.

"We don't know what the motive would have been for the shooter, or what the connection is with the victims," Techmeyer said.

A man at the Denver scene was in handcuffs talking to an officer. The SUV has significant damage to the windshield. It appears to be a licensed limousine.

Red Rocks was on lockdown while police search for the shooter. Concert goers and vehicles were searched.

"My friends got pretty emotional and choked up by it because they didn't understand what was going on, or if someone was on the loose," Samantha Auday said after going to the concert.

The last car was able to leave around 3 a.m. on Friday morning. People at the concert could not recall any previous shootings at Red Rocks.

"It's not the place to be doing it, this is all about a fun time, people can't be doing that (at Red Rocks)," said concert goer James Case.

According to the Red Rocks website, rapper Nas was the featured headliner Thursday night.
