The intersection of Big Bend Road at Geyer Road has reopened after being closed for hours Friday afternoon due to a hazmat situation.

The City of Kirkwood says that around 11:30 a.m., two barrels fell off a truck into the intersection, and some of the chemical leaked from the barrels onto the street. The chemical is an aluminum chloride blend, which is used in sewer cleaning.

The intersection reopened around 4:30 p.m.
