Hundreds of families in St. Louis will be dramatically affected by a new proposal from the St. Louis Archdiocese.

A brand new elementary school is on the way next year, while two schools will close.

St James the Greater in Dogtown and Our Lady of Sorrows in south St. Louis will close. Between 250 and 300 students will become part of the brand new elementary school at St. Joan of Arc.

The merger will affect some teachers and staff. The Archdiocese says some will get jobs at the new school.
