TROY, Mo.- Some play board games or watch movies for family night. Others are logging onto Facebook to guess what a guy's popcorn in Missouri looks like.
The idea started when Norris Brent Moore posted a photo of a popcorn piece that looked like a swan on his personal Facebook.
"15 people responded, and there was more attention with each post," Moore said. "Somebody suggested I make this a game."
Though it's only been a few weeks since Moore started the page, people from Florida, Wisconsin and even Hawaii are playing.
The game is simple. Exactly at 5:53 p.m. each day, Moore posts a photo of a popcorn piece for people to guess what it resembles.
The winner gets a bag of popcorn.
There's a consistent group of 40 to 50 people that play each day.
"It means a lot to me," Moore said. "I heard from a lady that's homebound, elderly lady got on it and plays. It's something to do every night and brightens up her day."
He's also heard from families who play the game together with their kids.
"People say, 'I can't believe I'm following a popcorn imagery page,'" Moore said as he laughed.
In honor of National Popcorn Day, Moore will host three rounds on Friday, Jan. 19.
