The Vianney Golden Griffins are one of a handful teams left practicing, which is a good thing because that means they are still playing in the state playoffs.
They are still playing, thanks in large part, to this man, Luke Mann. Mann is Vianney’s ace. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings and allowed only one run in their district win over SLUH.
"That was a really great feeling," Mann said at practice on Thursday, "it has taken a couple of years to get passed SLUH in districts. Taking the (win) in that game was a huge confidence boost for everybody."
Mann has plenty of reason to have confidence. He has an 8-1 record and a 0.64 earned run average. He is also striking out almost 10 batters a game for the season.
