Two lanes of southbound Interstate 55 are reopened near the Gasconade exit in St. Louis after a crash involving 18 cars Wednesday afternoon.

The St. Louis Fire Department said the crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and involved more than 18 vehicles.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police said the highway was shut down shortly after the crash, and asked drivers to use alternate routes, but all of the lanes reopened at around 5:40.

Police said there were 14 people transported for treatment, with two in critical condition.
