ST. LOUIS — Wednesday morning's winter weather advisory has been cancelled. The winter weather advisory for areas north of St. Louis remain in force for more possible freezing drizzle and sleet.

Temperatures are hovering near freezing, meaning a few spots may pick up freezing fog or drizzle, which could lead to patchy ice. The fog will clear away late morning, but patchy liquid (not freezing) drizzle is possible through the day. Wednesday stays cloudy, with high temperatures in the middle to upper 30s.

We can expect showers to move in Wednesday night mainly after 11 p.m. Rain showers may start as sleet but will quickly change over to rain. Showers will last through the morning commute on Thursday before clearing away midday. Thursday is cloudy with high temperatures in the lower 40s.

Our next winter storm arrives late Friday into Saturday. After a dry but cloudy day, Friday night will feature rain for the bi-state. Rain may turn moderate to heavy at times into Saturday morning in metro St. Louis.

Rain will begin to change over to snow west of St. Louis late morning into the afternoon on Saturday. Snow will then move over the entire bi-state during the day from west to east. Snow will roll out by evening, leaving a dusting to a few inches of snow on the ground. The heaviest snow will be north of metro St. Louis.

The temperatures will turn sharply colder Saturday night, with lows in the single digits. Highs on Sunday will be in the teens with overnight temperatures again in the single digits.

Slightly warmer weather moves back in for Monday afternoon, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We can expect another chance for rain and snow next week Tuesday into Wednesday.
