ST. LOUIS -- Gusty winds are the story Sunday morning as they arrived overnight, bringing with it an end to the rain and much drier pattern. Winds will gust for a few hours over 40mph in a few places.
Heavy rainfall over the past week is still draining into the area rivers. A few roads have been covered with flowing water at times over the eastern Ozarks southwest of St. Louis. As much as seven to eight inches of rain has fallen since President’s Day.
In the metro St. Louis area, three to six inches of rain fell during the week. Smaller rivers such as the Meramec, Bourbeuse, Kaskaskia, and Illinois will see minor flooding into the first part of the week. The Missouri and Mississippi rivers will see levels rise but remain below flood stage.
Several pleasant days are ahead with temperatures above average for the next several days. The next chance for rain will arrive by later Tuesday night and the chance is still there until early Thursday.
