ST. LOUIS — Strong to severe thunderstorms have been rolling across portions of southern Illinois this Sunday afternoon. Locally heavy rainfall has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning for Clay County, Illinois, until 9:45 Sunday night.
Scattered strong storms will continue across southeast Missouri, southern Illinois and into Kentucky and Indiana into the evening.

A severe thunderstorm watch is posted for these areas until 10 p.m.
The intensity of the thunderstorms should weaken as we lose the daytime heating through the evening.
Scattered showers and storms will occur several times during the week ahead with Monday and Wednesday featuring the best chances of rain.
