St. Louis (KSDK) -- Usually in St. Louis there is little to no warning for severe weather. With the remnants of Isaac headed to the region city officials have had a week to get ready.

Heavy rain in a short amount of time could cause the most problems in the concrete and paved urban areas.

On Thursday, extra street sweepers were out in St. Louis trying to clear debris away from storm drains. The Metropolitan Sewer District is working with the city to highlight trouble spots that have flooded in the past, and that is where crews are focusing their efforts.

That is also where you'll start to see temporary, no parking signs on Friday through the weekend. Some posted Friday morning prohibit parking from noon Friday through noon Monday.  MSD and the city want to try and keep those areas clear.

The city also has the Parks and Forestry departments on standby for the weekend. If the St. Louis area sees high winds they hope to be able to respond quickly to any downed trees or branches.

One bit of good news should we get a lot of rain, there is a lot of room for it in our low rivers.
