St. Louis hosts 'American Ninja Warrior' qualifying round

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – A popular NBC show that tests adrenaline as well as your fitness and stealth will be on full display in the heart of downtown St. Louis next week.

American Ninja Warriorwill host one of its qualifying rounds Sunday and Monday at Soldiers Memorial. The competition tests the country's best athletes through a series of obstacle courses with the chance to make it to the top of Mount Midoriyama.

The show is based on the Japanese hit show, where only three contestants have defeated the challenging series of athletic tests.

St. Louis is the third of five cities participating in qualifying rounds. The top finishers of the city finals round will head to the show finale in Las Vegas, Nev.

There will be limited walk-on registration to run the course Sunday at 7 p.m., for those interested in competing.

Free tickets are available to those who watch, but some time slots already have waiting lists.

The competition will start at 9 p.m.

The sixth season premieres May 26.
