Local author sees his book come to life in St. Louis

Before the five-time Tony award winning musical play "Peter and the Starcatcher" there was an international best selling book.

"I'm the author the co-author of the novel that the play is based off of "Peter and the Starcatchers." They did a huge title change and actually did "Peter and the Starcatcher" for the play," explained Ridley Pearson, New York Times Best Selling Author.

St. Louis author Ridley Pearson co-wrote the popular children's novel 10 years ago.

"When David Barry and I set out to write the book it was simply because my daughter had asked how Peter Pan had met Captain Hook in the first place."

The novel, a prequel to Peter Pan, has been adapted for the stage.

"The play that will be at the Peabody is based off the first book written by Rick Ellis who co-wrote the Jersey Boys," said Pearson.

This is the shows first national tour and it's first time to take the stage in St. Louis.

"Seeing his book come to life on a theatrical stage is one of the great moments in life," said Pearson.

"Peter and the Starcatcher" is suitable for all ages, but recommended for ages 10 and up. The shows is at the Peabody Friday-Sunday. For tickets go to http://www.ticketmaster.com or call 314-499-7676. For more about the show visit http://www.peabodyoperahouse.com
