Local musician plays his way onto the Billboard Top Ten

This weekend music is taking over Laclede's Landing with more than 40 local bands. One of which currently has a new album on the charts.

Scroll through the Billboard top 10 Blues Albums and his name appears on the same page as Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt.

"Yeah it made it all the way to number five on the Billboard Blues charts," Jeremiah Johnson says..

But fame isn't what fuels this St. Louis musician, music is and has since he was a kid.

"I started out when I was six. but then really got serious about it when I was 12 or so around there."

From the beginning he sang the blues.

"B.B. King was really a big influence right off the bat, but Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and all that kind of stuff my dad played for me all the time," he explains.

Songs his dad played over and over.

"He'd always go got hear that, that's how you do it!"

Through the years he added a guitar lick here and there and now has five albums of original music.

"Some of them I write in 15 minutes, sometimes it will sit around for 10 years and I'll finally finish it up."

These days he plays his songs at as many as four shows a week and that's on top of his day job.

So seeing his name on the charts is cool.

"Yeah Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt I don't know what to say about it.  I guess it's awesome me being here from St. Louis being a local guy that I was able to at least for one week was able to punch through and say hello I'm here," he says followed by a laugh.

But just making music with his incredibly talented band is better.

"Success is what you make it I don't need a bunch of money you know, I just want to do what I do which is play music, write songs and share that with people.  That's it I'm already successful."
