Flagstaff Army mom shaves head to show support for son

Rue wants us all to know, no matter who is the Commander-In-Chief, the military protects our country.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - A Flagstaff Army mom has a message of unity she wants to share, and she's willing to go to great lengths to get it out there.

Her name is Rue. No last name, just Rue.

She's the mother of Morgan Gilbert, a 19-year-old who recently completed basic training for the Army and is currently working to get certified as a Blackhawk mechanic.

Rue said she has seen the recent election cause a lot of division in the country, and with Veterans Day approaching, she wanted to relay a message to people. So, she wrote up 11 paper cards, sat in a barber's chair, and let a hairstylist shave her head, on camera, while flipping through her cards.

In total, the cards read:

This has been a rough year for our country. A contentious election has drawn hard lines between left and right. Violence and hate-speech have become commonplace. But there are a group of Americans who have agreed to serve the commander-in-chief, no matter who holds that office. The men and women of the United States Armed Forces. They have agreed to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. This Veterans Day, 11-11-16, let's all stop being Republicans or Democrats. Let's remember that we are ALL Americans. Don't say "I'm with her." or "I'm with him." Join me in saying "I'm with THEM!" #ImWithThem
