Grammy nominations announced

The Grammy Nominations Live!! -- The CountdownTo Music's Biggest Night, broadcast from Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre L.A. on CBS, marked the sixth time that top contenders for music's most high-profile honor have been announced on primetime TV, accompanied by performances from some of pop's hottest stars.

Returning host LL Cool J reminded fans that the show was ultimately "about the nominations.' And the first category, for song of the year, included such predictable entries as Katy Perry's Roar and Royals, the Cinderella hit by pop's coolest teen of the moment, New Zealand import Lorde (who just turned 17 in November.)

After Macklemore and Ryan Lewis opened the show thumping and bumping through their hit Thrift Shop, LL Cool J announced the nominees for Song of the Year: JustGive Me a Reason, Pink; Locked Out of Heaven, Bruno Mars, Roar, Katy Perry,Royals, Lorde and Same Love, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Taylor Swift followed with a performance of Trouble from Australia.

Ed Sheeran announced the nominees for best pop performance by a duo or group:Get Lucky, Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams; Just Give Me a Reason by Pink featuringNate Ruess; Stay by Rihanna featuring Mikky Ekko; Blurred Lines by Robin Thickefeaturing T.I. and Pharrell and Suit and Tie, Justin Timberlake & Jay Z.

Enrique Iglesias announced the nominees for album of the year: The Blessed Unrest, Sarah Barreiles; Random Access Memories, Daft Punk; Good Kid M.A.A.D. City,Kendrick Lamar; The Heist, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Red, Taylor Swift.
