MTV co-founder to receive Governor's Award

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – The Springfield, Missouri native possibly best known for co-founding the MTV Networks and lending his voice to Jefferson Starship's No. 1 song "We Built This City" is slated to receive the prestigious Governor's Award at the 38th annual Mid-America EMMY Awards.

Les Garland has worked as a radio personality, event producer, entertainment industry consultant, public speaker and currently leads AfterPlay Entertainment.

He'll be presented with the award on Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Kansas City Convention Center. The black-tie affair is open to the public.
