Service dog gets spot in yearbook

Fourteen-year-old Rachel Benke has been assisted by her service dog Taxi for the last four years. Taxi goes to school with her every day and warns when she's about to have a seizure.

According to, Rachel was born with a brain abnormality which caused her to have up to 200 seizures a day. She's had two surgeries to reduce the number of seizures she has, but they do still happen. That's where Taxi comes in.

Taxi stays on Rachel's left side because that's the side she falls to. One time he warned of a seizure while Rachel was swimming. Her parents pulled her out of the water, and 10 minutes later the seizure occurred.

Because Taxi is such a beloved member of the Benke family, her mom thought it'd be fun to ask the school photographer to take a yearbook photo of Taxi. A few shots were snapped, but the Benkes got a surprise when he made it into the book, right next to his best friend.

Rachel's mom took a picture of the yearbook page, and it quickly gained internet fame. She told that she never could have guessed it would have become such a popular story.
