Fazio's Rock Academy

School is in session, a jam session that is.

Believe it or not, this is a class and it's actually part of a school.

Here the lesson plan teaches a different type of reading and writing.

This one revolves only around Rock & Roll!

This is "Fazio's Rock Academy" an after school program where kids of all ages can live the dream and join their first band!

We met the the members of the band "Stereo 7"...Along with their Rock Academy instructor, Ron.

"Each participant does what we call an evaluation to kind of find out what skill level they are playing at and we've got 4 skill levels, beginner, intermediate, advanced and all star" says Brian Vaccaro, Fazio's Frets & Friends.

After the skill levels are decided the instructors choose the bands

"Then the band picks out a song and a name and they practice on the first song and then try it on the stage etc, etc" said Jeffrey the 10 year old drummer.

Each "Rock Academy" program lasts about 10 weeks.

At the end, each band gets their first gig as they put on a concert for the parents.

"It's a great rock show and the parents have a lot of fun maybe more fun then the kids do" Brian says.

It's a school that certainly marches to the beat of its own drum.

After all, here, there are no grades just good old rock & roll.

Fazio's Rock Academy is accepting students now for its rock band programs that start the week of September 8th.

This after school program takes place at Fazio's Frets and Friends in Ellisville at 15440 Manchester road
