St. Louis (KSDK) -- There's lots of buzz online about a new social platform for renters.
The idea behind www.RentSocial.com is to come to the site for an apartment and stay on the site after you find one. It's about building an online community with your neighbors. The social network lets you connect with neighbors that maybe you wouldn't meet if it weren't for the site.
Anyone can use RentSocial to search for apartments in St. Louis and compare them side by side. Right now, there are about 20 properties listed in our area.
After you find a place to live, you can find your neighbors and message them. There's a wall similar to Facebook. Creators of RentSocial think it will be especially helpful for the so-called Boomerang generation.
Eric Broughton, of RentSocial, said, "Eighty-five percent of people who graduate from college are moving back in with their parents now. Huge stat. Now, when they look for an apartment, they look to their parents for that guidance. 'Hey, mom and dad, what do you think of that apartment?' Now they can have that conversation right on RentSocial."
RentSocial also lets you pay rent and submit maintenance requests.
