Walt Disney museum invites Meryl Streep to a tour

The best defense is possibly just a good defense.

On the heels of Meryl Streep's Disney-bashing speech on Tuesday's National Board of Reviewawards, the Walt Disney Museum has invited the actress to stop by to learn more about the legendary studio head played by Tom Hanks inSaving Mr. Banks.

Among Streep's Disney charges while presenting the best actress award to Emma Thompson: That he disliked women, was a "gender bigot" and was affiliated with anti-Semitic causes.

Not so, says the Walt Disney Museum. "Hey @officialMStreep! Want the real truth about Walt Disney? Visit the museum and we'll give you a tour. Or, you know... Google it. :)," Tweeted the museum.

According to the museum, in a post using the hashtag #TeamWalt!, he actually hired plenty of diverse staff members and was ahead of his time in believing that "If a woman can do the work as well, she is worth as much as a man."

Vulture.com posted Streep's speech in its entirety. And we'll be curious to see what, if anything, Streep has to say about this at Sunday's Golden Globes, where she's up for her role in August: Osage County.
