Just back from a beach holiday and tanned from the sun, Prince William and Duchess Kate put on their green today for their visit to the Irish Guards for its annual St. Patrick's Day Parade at its barracks west of London.
It was their first joint appearance of the year, and followed a week in a luxury resort on an atoll in the northern Maldives in the Indian Ocean.
The Daily Mail declared they sported "glorious tans" from their holiday alone, without seven-month-old Prince George, but it was hard to tell from the pictures, so maybe they just looked browner than usual for Brits.
She was dressed in green from head to toe, he was in his elaborate uniform as a colonel of the Irish Guards, and both were bedecked with shamrocks.
Also on hand was Guardsman Domhnall, the enormous, grey Irish wolfhound and regimental mascot, who greeted Kate and received his sprig of shamrocks.
The couple have participated in the ceremony of distributing shamrocks to the regiment twice before, and each time Duchess Kate has appeared in something green.
Today, the Mail reported, she was in a green Hobbs coat cinched at the waist with a black belt, plus a green topper, green suede spike heels, green clutch and even what appeared to reporters to be green eye shadow.
The ceremony, which takes place at the barracks in Hampshire about an hour west of London, has been a tradition for more than a century, dating to Will's ancestors, Queen Alexandra, wife of Edward VII, who started it in 1901.
The news of the day, according to the Mail, is that William, after being asked by a guardsman, reported that Prince George is healthy, crawling and eating, and that another baby is NOT on the way anytime soon.
"Maybe one day. One's enough at the moment," Will said according to Sgt.Major Ray Collister.
The couple, along with their baby, will head to New Zealand and Australia next month for a three-week official tour sure to be grueling.
As with their last overseas tour, of South Asia and the South Pacific in 2012, they took a brief vacation to prepare. This time they chose a remote and sunny place similar to their 2011 honeymoon destination in the Seychelles.
So far, no paparazzi pictures of them in the Maldives have emerged.
