A store unlike any other in St. Louis

Creaky Crow Curious Antiques isn't for everyone.

It's a shop that sort of blends in along Cherokee Antique Row, but crack the door to Creaky Crow and you'll find a store unlike anything else in St. Louis.

"Pretty much every mounted piece in here is over 50 years old," Cassandra Pace explains.

She's the owner of this unique store, a woman known by many as Lady Von Black.

"There are some people who come in turn around and walk right out."

It's a place that isn't for everyone.

"You know, obviously there are some people that are going to be really weirded out by taxidermy and dead things."

She, however isn't afraid of the end, but rather embraces it.

"I do a lot of the taxidermy myself, but I also collect antique taxidermy," Pace adds.

It's a collection that was collecting dust in her basement until November of 2017 when she decided to put a price tag on the mounted rams and other animals.

"That is some kind of python," she points out.

Well, most of the other animals.

"So he's a European Crow. I've had a lot of people offer me money for him and I can't give him up."

The bulk of what's on the walls are pieces she's stumbled upon at estate sales.

"I describe it as a natural history, curiosity store. We also teach here. We educate on natural history, we educate on taxidermy and etymology."

There are test tubes and old bottles.

"These are all dental tools for the most part," she says picking up a old piece of metal.

You'll also find locally made jewelry, necklaces with natural stones and rooster feather earrings.

"It's such a unique place and some really cool stuff I've never seen in St. Louis before," says one customer.

So it might creep some people out, but more times than not curiosity pulls them in.
