A man was forced into his own car and kidnapped in St. Louis early Monday morning outside of a local restaurant.

Police said the first incident happened on the parking lot of Courtesy Diner at the intersection of S Kingshighway and Kemper on June 24. The victim parked his car before two men approached him and forced him into his own car. He was driven around and eventually taken back to his home, where the men searched his house for valuables before fleeing on foot.

The next night, police said a 25-year-old man had parked his car at the Courtesy Diner at around 3:30 a.m. As he was walking inside, three unidentified suspects approached him and forced him back into his car. One of the suspects displayed a gun, and another suspect stole his car keys.

The man was forced to hold his head down for two hours in an effort to keep their location secret. This lasted until around 5:30 a.m. when the suspects let the man out of his car in an area close to where the initial kidnapping occurred.

Sam Herring, a frequent customer at the diner, said he was disappointed to hear about the kidnappings.

"It's a shame. I'd be willing to pay more in taxes if we could get more police officers on the street."

All three suspects left the scene with the victim's car and wallet. One of the suspects has been taken into custody and charged.

Police are searching for a 2013 Kia Optima.
