Rather than getting gifts for herself, a St. Louis girl collected birthday presents for children in need Sunday at Birthday Joy Foundation headquarters.
Birthdays have always been special Orli Hahn, so when it came time to select a community service project for her upcoming Bat Mitzvah, she chose to work with Birthday Joy Foundation, where her mom also volunteers. She invited friends to bring toys and add their name to the “Birthday Joy Wall of Fame.”
Lots of cupcakes and hot chocolate were served as dozens of children showed up to drop off toys and help children in need celebrate their birthdays. You can also make a donation in honor of someone’s birthdays through Birthday Joy.
Birthday Joy donates to organizations that provide them with lists with the names of children and their birthdays. Volunteer shoppers range in age from 2- to 82-years-old. Volunteers also help fill birthday bags and make birthday cards.
