Missouri freshman Michael Porter Jr. has been cleared to resume basketball activities, according to multiple reports.

One of the nation's top recruits, Porter was injured after just two minutes into his first career game in the season opener. The Tigers subsequently announced the forward would require back surgery and likely miss the remainder of the season.

In his absence, Missouri has played itself into tournament contention with an 18-10 record and 8-7 mark in the Southeastern Conference. The Tigers last made the NCAA field in 2013.

Even though he is cleared for activities, it is uncertain how soon Porter could return to game action. Selection Sunday is just two weeks away, and he will have to get up to speed quickly after more than three months on the sideline.

Still, the news was welcomed by Porter's brother, Jontay, who is also a freshman on the team.
