COLUMBIA, MO -- A University of Missouri police spokesman says Mizzou basketball forward Jordan Barnett was arrested overnight on charges of DWI and failing to drive in one lane.

The incident happened around 3:26 a.m. on Saturday.

The Mizzou basketball program says it is "aware of the incident" and will have no further comment at this time.

Barnett is the Tiger's second-leading scorer this year. He transferred from Texas early in his career and has become a key part of Mizzou's success this season.

Although he's averaged 14 points a game this season and is tied for 3rd in the SEC in 3-point-shot percentage and 2nd in free throw percentage, Barnett is coming off one of his worst games of the season, in Thursday's first-round loss in the SEC Tournament in St. Louis. Mizzou lost to Georgia, with Barnett going 1 for 8 from the floor, scoring just 3-points.

Missouri will find out their NCAA seed on Selection Sunday, and the Tigers will be playing their next game either next Thursday or Friday. If he is suspended, it will present new problems for an already thin Tiger team, and mean they will need to lean heavier on the Michael Porter Jr, who is back with the team after missing nearly the entire season with an injury.

Barnett enjoyed a sensational career at CBC in St. Louis, where he led the Cadets to a state championship in his senior year. His career took off as soon as he arrived in Columbia as a transfer from the University of Texas. He transformed his career from a player who played the bench in Texas to a possible NBA player after his performance as a Tiger.

While we don't know the exact punishment Barnett may face, the Student-Athlete handbook may give us some clue: You can read the entire handbook here.
