St. Louis (KSDK) - The Metro St. Louis Sewer District is asking for extra money, in part to help fix overflow issues.

MSD is set to significantly increase rates in the next few years.

The district needs money to make up for a multi-billion dollar settlement it has to pay for damage caused by sewage backups.

MSD is asking voters to approve a bond issue to make up some of that money. That way, the district says, it won't have to raise rates quite so high.
