Washington D.C. (KSDK) - The 'Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation' Act (CALM), passed and signed into law in 2010, goes into effect today.

The bill ensures that commercial advertisements have the same average volume as the shows during which they are broadcast.

Claire McCaskill, a long-time supporter of the CALM Act, urged the FCC to implement volume standards for broadcasters, cable operators, and satellite providers.
