Crews break ground on former Chrysler plant

Plans to transform the old Chrysler site take a major step forward.

FENTON, MO. - The old Chrysler plant site in Fenton will soon be a new logistics park.

Thursday morning, crews broke ground on what will be the first of many buildings built on the site.

The $222 million, 2.1 million-square foot Fenton Logistics Park has the potential to bring in up to 3,000 permanent jobs, pumping an estimated $135 million in wages to the region.

Developers have invested millions into the site, and the St. Louis County Council of Tax Increment Financing recently approved funding. Developers also expect state funding to be approved later this year.

Plans include manufacturing, warehouses, offices, retail stores, restaurants and hotel space.
