ST. CHARLES CO., MO. - A water search in St. Charles County was called off Saturday after fishermen spotted a capsized boat in the water.
For hours, emergency personnel were parked near the Missouri River while crews searched further down the river.
The fishermen reportedly spotted the capsized boat around 2:30 p.m. Although it was unclear if anyone was on the boat, first responders treated their search as though someone was.
Crews from several departments searched by water and by air. They had three boats on the water at one point. Three boats were on the water at one point, including a helicopter team.
During the initial search, only a small part of the boat was poking out of the water. But as crews continued the search, they flip it over. Officials were then able to identify the boat was abandoned -- calling off their search.
The Orchard Farms fire chief said it's not typical to find capsized boats on the river.
