(KSDK) - A Fairview Heights man was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder after a retired church pastor was found dead in his home, authorities said.
Kevin L. Cooley, 48, lived in a mobile home owned by the Rev. Raymond Trimble.
Trimble, 67, was found around 8 p.m. Saturday in his home in the 9000 block of Crest Drive in Fairview Heights. Cooley resided in a mobile home next to Trimble’s home.
An autopsy revealed that Trimble died as a result of blunt trauma to the head and body, authorities said.
Illinois Department of Corrections records show Cooley was on parole after serving one year in prison for arson.
Coley is being held at the St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bond.
