KSDK -- Authorities in Leadington, Missouri released a composite sketch of a man they believe abducted a 17-year-old boy at gunpoint Monday.

The victim, Kory Wakefield, said the suspect abducted him Monday morning at 7:21 a.m. after he walked out of his house to head for school. The 300-pound football player said the man walked up to him with a gun and demanded to be driven to Columbia, Missouri.  Wakefield said the man later demanded to be driven to Kirksville.

The Central High School student said he was somehow able to keep his composure, drive and send text messages for help all at the same time.

Wakefield's girlfriend said she received a text message that said "HLP." She responded back indicating she did not understand, and Wakefield replied "HELP."  She then contacted authorities.

When help didn't come, Wakefield took action.  He said that he crashed his truck into a pile of logs in a wildlife area near Atlanta, Missouri, hoping to injure his abductor.  The teen said the crash was enough to get the man out of the vehicle.

Police said someone picked the man up in a red or maroon truck a short time later.  Investigators said it wasn't clear how the alleged accomplice ended up in the area so quickly.

Police processed Wakefield's truck for fingerprints, but found none other than Wakefield's.

If you have information on the suspect's whereabouts, contact Crimestoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
