CARBONDALE, IL (AP) -- A southern Illinois man has been charged with first-degree murder in the 2007 death of a 21-year-old mother of two young children.
Carbondale police say 24-year-old Elijah Lacy was arrested Monday without incident. He's being held in the Jackson County Jail on $1.5 million bond.
Police say hundreds of interviews were conducted in the case before Lacy was arrested.
He's accused of breaking into a Carbondale home on January 6, 2007, and firing shots into the bedroom where Falon Taylor of Marion was sleeping, striking her.
Taylor's children, two boys now ages four and three, are living with their grandparents.
It was not immediately clear whether Lacy has an attorney.
