KSDK -- Metro East native and professional basketball player Darius Miles was arrested Wednesday night in Fairview Heights and charged with possessing marijuana.
Police pulled Miles's vehicle over, a 1996 Chevy Impala, in the 5700 block of Old Collinsville Road around 10:20 p.m. for failing to use a turn signal.
Police took Miles into custody for driving with a suspended license and impounded the vehicle. Authorities found the marijuana while searching the vehicle later. He was also charged with possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuanan. Miles posted bond and was eventually released.
Miles' 2008-2009 season was postponed for ten games by the Grizzlies while he sat out a NBA-mandated suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Miles, who plays small forward the Memphis Grizzlies, averaged 3.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per game this past season. He has played in the NBA for six years. Miles was drafted in 2000 by the Los Angeles Clippers directly out of East St. Louis High School.
He was born in Belleville.
