KSDK -- A coach at Fort Zumwalt West assistant football coach is accused of having sex with a student.
O'Fallon police said that 23-year-old Reginald Hicks allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old female student at locations off campus over the past several weeks.
"I'm always shocked when a staff member gets involved with a student because we make it clear to 'em with our policies that that's not appropriate, so we took the action that was necessary to protect our kids," said the district superintendent Bernard DuBrey.
Police said they got a call about the alleged sex acts on Monday.
Hicks was arrested and on Tuesday prosecutors filed nine counts of second-degree statutory sodomy and two counts of second-degree statutory rape. He has a bond of $50,000.
"Sit down and talk to your kids, find out what's going on and if you get any kind of weird vibes or anything like that, may be a good idea to talk to 'em further about it," said Officer Diana Damke of the O'Fallon Police Department.
O'Fallon police want to know if other students also had sex with Hicks. Please contact Detective Matthew Myers, at 636-379-5670 if you have information that could help the investigation.
