St. Francois County, MO (KSDK) - A 37-year-old semi-truck driver has been charged after an accident on Highway 67 claimed the lives of three people.
The accident occurred before 2 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 67, north of Bonne Terre.
Three people in the passenger car were killed, according to the St. Francois County Coroner's Office. They were identified as 56-year-old Frank Weber of Bonne Terre; 20-year-old Aaron Weber, Frank Weber's son; and 18-year-old Rachel Sharp, Aaron Weber's girlfriend. Sharp was four months pregnant at the time of the accident.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the car slowed down on the roadway when the semi-truck struck it from the rear. When the semi hit the car, it pushed the vehicle off the road several hundred feet.
The truck driver, identified as 37-year-old Robert Carmona, was not hurt in the accident.
Carmona was charged with three counts of second-degree involuntary manslaughter and driving on a revoked license.
