St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Two Massachusetts men are facing charges in connection to recent thefts of credit cards at area health clubs, US Attorney Richard Callahan said Tuesday.
According to court documents, the suspects, Jonathan Vendituoli and Kevin Cooney, traveled to the St. Louis area with other as yet to be identified accomplices to commit credit card fraud. The men would break into lockers at local health clubs and steal credit cards, which were then used to purchase electronics, cameras and computer equipment at area retailers.
Vendituoli and Cooney, both 53, were arrested at a St. Louis-area health club on February 3. They are charged with one count each of credit card fraud and conspiracy to commit credit card fraud.
If convicted, credit card fraud carries a maximum penalty of ten years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. Conspiracy to commit credit card fraud carries a five year maximum sentence and a $250,000 fine.
