St. Louis (KSDK) -- U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill said a program will be rolled out in the next month that will use the veterans to judge the quality of care at John Cochran V.A. Medical Center.
The senator said regardless of what administrators say she wants to make sure veterans feel confident about the care they could receive at the hospital. She said they deserve quality care and good customer service.
A private sector watchdog group called The Joint Commission conducted an inspection at the facility on Thursday to check on minimum hospital standards.
Surgeries at the hospital remain suspended following the discovery of potentially contaminated surgical equipment last week.
Last year, the medical center notified 1,800 veterans they may have been exposed to H.I.V. and hepatitis at the facility's dental clinic.
