Richmond Heights, MO (KSDK) - Ameren Missouri crews worked throughout Monday evening replacing power poles damaged or snapped in two by strong winds that blew through Sunday night.
In all, 150 poles were identified as damaged or broken in the storm.
250 local filed checkers, tree trimmer and linemen were joined by 300 from out of state in the effort to restore power to the remaining customers without electricity.
As of Monday evening, hundreds of homes and businesses were still without power in the 63117 area code.

Ameren Missouri said most, if not all, of the power should be restored by the end of the day Tuesday.
Big Bend Boulevard remained closed between Wise and Clayton Road while linemen replaced more than half-a-dozen power poles and restrung new power lines.
Five power poles snapped in half on Ethel Avenue and Big Bend Boulevard. Poles in front of the Richmond Heights Post Office were bent to the north due to strong winds.
Ameren hoped to complete the work at Clayton and Big Bend by early Tuesday morning. That would allow Missouri Department of Transportation crews to clear the area of debris before reopening it, hopefully by the Tuesday morning rush hour.
