Clayton, Missouri (KSDK) - Christine Miller has been sentenced after the March 2009 car accident that killed four Illinois residents.

Miller, a former Sunset Hills police officer, was sentenced to eight years on each of the four manslaughter counts; she was also sentenced to seven years on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

The sentences will be served concurrently, meaning Miller will serve no more than eight years in prison, according to a ruling by St. Louis County Circuit Judge Michael Jamison.  Miller will be eligible for parole once 85 percent of the sentence has been served.

The 43-year-old Miller entered a blind plea in December to four counts of involuntary manslaughter in the March 2009 deaths of four people who were passengers in a car that Miller's vehicle struck in the intersection of Dougherty Ferry and Des Peres Road in Des Peres.

Killed in the collision were 23-year-old Anusha Anumolu, 23-year- old Anita Lakshmi, 22-year-old Priya Muppavarapu; all were of Charleston Illinois, and 25-year-old Satya Subhakar of Aurora.  The three Charleston victims were all students at Eastern Illinois University.

The driver of the car Miller collided with, 27-year-old Nitesh Adusumilli, of Ballwin, was severely injured in the crash and continues to recover.   Miller also pleaded guilty to an assault charge in Adusumilli's injuries.

Police reports showed that Miller was driving on the wrong side of Dougherty Ferry when the crash occurred.  Evidence against Miller also showed her blood-alcohol content registered more than twice the legal limit in Missouri, nearly three hours after the collision.

Christine Miller was facing up to 67 years in state prison.

Miller served as a patrol officer in Sunset Hills for 12 years and was suspended without pay from her job after the incident.  Sunset Hills Police Chief William LeGrand announced on Wednesday that Miller had officially resigned her position.
