St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The RoboHawks of Hazelwood Central High School claimed first place at a local robotics competition Wednesday afternoon.
By winning the FIRST Robotics Competition St. Louis Regional, held at Chaifetz Arena on St. Louis University's campus, the RobohHawks qualify for the nationwide FIRST Championship, taking place at the Edwards Jones Dome April 27 - April 30.
The RoboHawks, captained by juniors Luther Banner, Evan Mensinger and Jaylen Taylor, bested 27 other teams in the St. Louis Regional. They lost only one of 11 matches during the event.
In addition to the prestige of competing in a national championship, approximately $14.7 million in scholarships will be offered to students.
