O'Fallon, IL (KSDK) - A Metro East high school has confirmed that a teacher has been fired for sending inappropriate text messages to a student.
According to O'Fallon Township officials, they recently heard a rumor that a teacher exchanged "innapropriate" text messages with a student.
The O'Fallon, Illinois superintendent said a teacher was immediately removed from the classroom while they investigated a rumor regarding text messages.
District leaders said a student admitted to text messaging with a teacher, prompting the district to turn the matter over to the police.
"It's very upsetting and frustrating to hear that in our school district," said parent Angela Edwards.
School officials aren't releasing any details about the messages that were allegedly exchanged between the student and teacher.
Police are looking into the texting incident, but so far say there is no evidence a crime was committed.
