April 20, 1993: Freeman Bosley Jr. sworn in

KSDK - Eighteen years ago today, the city of St. Louis welcomed their first black mayor. Freeman Bosley Jr. took the oath of office on April 20, 1993.

Hundreds gathered in the rainy outside city hall for the morning ceremony.

The mayor's main goal while in office was to unite the city.
