Collinsville, IL (KSDK) - The Macoupin County State's Attorney's Office has charged two brothers in connection with a shooting in Gillespie, Illinois.
According to Master Sgt. Dave Wasmuth, spokesman for the Illinois State Police, the shooting happened Wednesday, April 20, at approximately 11:50 p.m. in the 700 block of Gillespie Street.
Macoupin County sheriff's deputies and officers with the Gillespie Police Department responded to the scene after receiving calls of shots fired and found a victim, a 30-year-old man who'd been shot multiple times. The victim was rushed to an area hospital where he remains listed in critical condition.
Authorities located the suspects, Cody and David McGuire, hiding in a garage a short time later. The suspects, both 18 years of age, are being held in the Macoupin County Jail on $1 million bond apiece.
Cody McGuire has been charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. David McGuire was charged with one count of aggravated battery.
