Greenville, IL (KSDK) - Two people were killed Wednesday afternoon following a collision on Interstate 70 involving a semi-truck and a car, the Illinois State Police said.
According to authorities, the accident happened just after 3:50 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-70, at mile post 40, in Bond County.
A car was traveling eastbound and, for unknown reasons, crossed the center median into the path of the oncoming semi.
A third person was injured in the accident. Their condition has not been updated.
Westbound I-70 had to be closed for several hours, with traffic being diverted to US 40 from exit 41 to exit 36.
