St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A Minneapolis, Minnesota pimp and a female associate pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday due to their involvement in transportation and prostitution of a minor, US Attorney Richard Callahan said.
According to court documents, the victim, identified only as "Jane Doe," met Maurice Alexander and Latoshia Norris in the Minneapolis area in May 2010. Jane Doe told them she was 17-years-old, but she was really 16-years-old.
Alexander, 24, invited the girl to live with them after she'd been abandoned on the street.
Alexander and Norris, 25, bought Jane Doe food and clothing and immediately set to work training her as a prostitute. Alexander also provided the girl with marijuana and alcohol.
The victim told authorities that Alexander was her pimp and he kept the proceeds of her work.
After posting a sex ad on Backpage.com, Alexander took both Jane Doe and Norris to Des Moines, Iowa; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Kansas City, Missouri for commercial sex.
Doe eventually left Alexander and Norris and moved to St. Louis. She left them a letter explaining she was really 16 years of age.
Between August and September of 2010, Jane Doe met Alexander and Norris in St. Louis and the three decided to post advertisements for sex. They parted ways following a trip to Indianapolis.
Alexander and Norris each pleaded guilty to one count of enticement to engage in prostitution. They face up to 20 years in prison and/or $250,000 in fines when they're sentenced on September 9.
