East St. Louis, IL (KSDK) - Nearly 18 years ago, river boat gambling splashed into East St. Louis, bringing with it the hope of proliferating a down economy.
The Casino Queen set sail down the Mississippi River on June 23, 1993. The City of East St. Louis was betting on the gambling boat to set a course for a brighter economic future.
With nearly 40 percent of the city's budget stemming from the casino, the East St. Louis economy was rolling the dice on the Casino Queen.
NewsChannel 5's Sarah Harlow was onboard for the first cruise and filed this report.
