June 29, 2001: Lighting the St. Louis Arch
St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Fair St. Louis invaded the downtown riverfront ten years ago on Fourth of July weekend, but with a special novelty.
Music shows underneath the Arch have always been popular, but the real spectacle comes at night high in the sky. The faces of onlookers always light up as soon as the sun goes down. That is when the St. Louis Arch lights up with intense colorful fireworks shows known as 'Lighting the Arch'.
The faces of everyone, child to adult, are captivated by the bright colors illuminating the night sky. Lighting the Arch first occurred in 2001, and there looks to be no end in sight.
